2016 Children's Summer Reading Program: On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!

Monday, June 6, 2016 (All day) to Friday, July 22, 2016 (All day)

Readers of all ages will explore all things sports and fitness this summer as the Meigs County District Public Library presents "On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!" during our summer library program beginning June 6th. Activities include presentations, art projects, physical challenges, group games, and more. 

Each performer or program is held at the Pomeroy Library at 2:00 pm, usually on Wednesdays.

Story time hours are held at each location during the program:

Mondays - Racine Library 1:00 pm
Tuesdays - Eastern Library 1:30 pm
Thursdays - Middleport Library 1:00 pm

To go out with a bang, the Summer Reading Pool Party will be held at the London Pool in Syracuse during the final week of the program. Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins on May 23rd. Participants who read 25 books or more will earn a certificate for a free mini pizza from Pizza Dan's in Rutland. Children who attend 3 or more programs will receive a Summer Reading t-shirt featuring this year's theme, "On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!". T-shirts are limited to the first 100 participants. All programs are free and open to the public.

June 15th - Wolfe Mountain Entertainment: Story Time with the Fairy Godmother - Pomeroy Library 2:00 pm
June 22nd - Jeff Nicolas: On Your Mark, Get Set, DRAW! - Pomeroy Library 2:00 pm

July 1st - The WAVE Foundation/Newport Aquarium: African Penquins! - Pomeroy Library 2:00 pm
July 6th - Paul Adams - Poof Daddy Magic Show - Pomeroy Library 2:00 pm
July 13th - Nancy the Turtle Lady - Pomeroy Library 11:00 am & 2:00 pm
July 21st - End of the Summer Pool Party - London (Syracuse) Pool - Time TBA

Recipe Swap

Saturday, June 25, 2016 - 1:00pm

Here's how it works:

1. Make one of your favorite summer recipes. 

2. Bring your dish and recipe to the Recipe Swap.

3. Sample others' dishes, swap recipes, and socialize. 

4.Leave the party with new and delicious recipes to make!



Plus, enjoy a cooking demonstration with local chef Josh Dunham.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Library will hold a Book Sale at the Pomeroy Library in the Community Meeting Room. Bring a box, bag, or knapsack and leave with an armload of reading material! 
Donations are accepted.
The Friends of the Library are accepting new members. Sign-up to be a part of the Friends Group at the Book Sale!
